These are of the 'next generation' of battery-electrics from the manufacturer, following its earlier work to body BYD chassis for the UK and other markets. A ride on one of these demonstrated that the newer model is impressive, with a total lack of noise - unlike some earlier electrics where motor whine was rather pronounced. The Voith Electrical Drive System is used by Alexander Dennis, a package that has drawn acclaim for its efficiency.
