D&G Bus fleet renewal continues

D&G Bus at its Adderley Green depot is now up to seven of these 10.8m Volvo B8RLEs with MCV Evora bodywork. Six are in yellow Nines livery but the seventh is in the revised standard scheme of red and blue. Rumour has it that five more are due for the Orange One, and/or four others for Crewe depot. When four Alexander Dennis Enviro200s delivered in late 2023 are considered, the fleet has already seen 11 new buses over the past 12 months - an unprecedented level of investment although one that was perhaps well due.

Adderley Green has a solitary Saturday turn on otherwise Crewe depot-operated route 85 between Newcastle and Nantwich. The red B8RLE, 6007 (BU74 YSH) was very surprisingly allocated to it on 19 October and here the new bus, on its sixth day in service, is seen in Keele university amid some autumn leaves while working a Nantwich-bound journey.

Purchase of these Volvos is notable, as D&G has typically avoided heavyweight buses and they are in fact the first such new examples to join its fleet.

Nevertheless, even though money is being spent on new vehicles, the service offered remains generally poor, where lost mileage is seen as an occupational hazard.
