Yutong U11DD: About to hit the UK's roads
Chinese brand Yutong has been successful in the UK with its range of single-deck battery-electric single-deckers, with reviews suggesting that they are highly reliable, energy-efficient, liked by drivers, and supported by strong back-up from dealership Pelican Bus and Coach.
The next logical step was always a double-decker, and that has materialised in the U11DD. The first to be built for the UK is seen here at Yutong's factory in China prior to shipment. It has now arrived, been repainted silver, and is about to enter demonstration service. A second example, in the same red livery as seen here, is also expected very soon. It, too, will be used as a demonstrator. Two of the type are already on order for Newport Transport, where they will join E9L, E10 and E12 single-deck models.
