Cable releases tied to SLIK Carbon Fiber PRO 614CF tripod

After two cable releases that I carried coiled in a camera bag broke, I came up with this idea:

I put each separately in an outside diameter 1/2" PVC tube which I cut to the length of the retracted tripod legs and tied this to the tripod with shoe laces. (The release part will stick out and has to be nested within the tripod legs). The tubes may slip so carry the tripod in its carry case during traveling/hiking. The extra bits and pieces are a bit of a hassle but it seemed to me the safest way to keep the cables safe and, hopefully, at least one of the three not breaking. Cable releases with disc release are a bit easier to pack, but there were occasions when the discs seemed to have a mind of their own and did either not release, or released, when not wanted.
