De fontein ´´Love´´ die Jaume Plensa ontwierp voor het vernieuwde stationsgebied van Leeuwarden.
‘Love’ bestaat uit twee 7 meter hoge, witte sculpturen van een jongen en een meisje. Hun gezichten zijn naar elkaar toegewend, maar hun ogen zijn gesloten. De gezichtsuitdrukking van de kinderen is sereen. Om hen heen hangt een 2 meter hoge mistwolk waar we in rond kunnen dwalen. ‘Ze dromen’, zegt Plensa; ‘voor kinderen is de toekomst een droom vol beloftes.’ De Spaanse kunstenaar kreeg zijn inspiratie voor de mistfontein toen hij ’s morgens vroeg de nevel boven de Friese velden zag. ‘In Friesland’, zei hij, ‘komt het water uit de grond.’

'Love' consists of two 7 meter high, white sculptures of a boy and a girl. Their faces are turned towards one another, but their eyes are closed. The children's facial expression is serene. Around them is a 2 meter high fog cloud that we can wander around. "They dream," says Plensa; "For children, the future is a dream full of promises." The Spanish artist got his inspiration for the mist fountain when he saw the mist above the Frisian fields early in the morning. 'In Friesland', he said, 'the water comes out of the ground.'
