Eastern Milksnake (Lampropeltis triangulum)
April 7th, 2024 10:00AM
High of 71 degrees Fahrenheit
Low of 56 degrees Fahrenheit
61 degrees Fahrenheit at capture
The morning was mostly cloudy with a strong breeze. Early into my hike on a bunch of south-facing dolomite glades I flipped a large flat rock near the lower forest line to discover this snake along with a young speckled kingsnake. While both snakes were still cold, this one became very defensive after warming up in my hands. After photos both were released where they were found. Also observed were numerous copperheads and racers before an intense rainstorm moved in.
