About mid-morning a friend and I tag teamed a large dolomite bald knob in Southwestern Missouri on a mostly sunny day, targeting the usual glade species. Many were found, but overall few snakes were observed. This kingsnake was flipped under a small, flat rock on the Northwestern side of the glades, near the peak. The rock was heavily flanked by vegetation. Upon capture the snake was lethargic but quickly warmed up, making photographs difficult. After pictures it was released.
