2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
The new 2004 Malibu was based on the GM Epsilon platform with the Saab 9-3 and forthcoming 2005 Pontiac G6 with a "Maxx" 4-door hatchback wagon introduced. The Malibu Maxx shared a 112.3 inch wheelbase with the Malibu sedan with a sliding rear seat to increase rear seat room or cargo capacity (41 cubic feet with seats folded) and was only available in the LS or LT trim level with the 3.5 liter 200 HP V6. At 128.8 cubic feet EPA interior volume index, the Malibu Maxx was in the EPA large car class, but would only be a compact wagon (being under 130 cubic feet).
The Maxx lasted to the 2007 model year.
