July 1978 Chevrolet press photo of new 1979 Nova Hatchback Coupe. The Hatchback offered 29.2 cubic feet cargo volume, more than double the trunk space of the Coupe. The 2-door Nova Hatchback was introduced in the 1973 model year. 1979 was the final year for the Nova (and GM X compact platform), being replaced with an all new 1980 FWD compact series (Chevy Citation) in April 1979. The 1979 Nova Hatchback had a base factory retail list price at $4,118.
