Chrysler 300C Wagon (2005) - INSTRUCTIONS AVAILABLE

The Chrysler 300C launched in 2005. It adopted the platform used on the 1994-era Mercedes-Benz W210 mid-size model. The car was developed during the Daimler-Chrysler era, but continued on during the subsequent ownership of former Chrysler Corporation subsidiaries.

The recipe was simple. Rear wheel drive + big engines = revenue. This only held for a certain segment of the market, but Chrysler (and Dodge) natural competitors in the segment were either very old (Panther platform Fords), or poorly supported within the company (the GM Holden division Caprice, imported from Australia).

Chrysler made a good effort at making some of the engines very big. HEMI V8 of 6.1 L and good for over 500 hp. Many 300Cs were powered by the more sensible Corporate V6 (of 3.5 L and 250 hp, or 2.7 L 190 hp), or a diesel engine sourced from VM in Europe.

Americans reading this post would be unfamiliar with the 300C wagon, as this model was sold in Europe and Australia, but not the home market of the USA. In that market the wagon model was exclusive to the Dodge division, and sold under the Magnum nameplate.

The 300C wagon was not continued after the 2011 model update.
