Singapore Sling - Ford Econoline

LUGNuts' founder Lino Martins has graciously given me permission to replicate his series of automotive illustrations based on various mixed alcoholic drinks.

The first in this series is a Lego -model replication of 'Singapore Sling' - Ford Econoline.

.

In Lino's own words:

"A bit ago I asked my friends to assign a mixed drink and I would somehow draw a vehicle based on it and provide a drink recipe. Eric Blacker suggested the Singapore Sling. Research ensued and the drink can appear several different ways but to me the most visually captivating photos were the ones where the drink faded from yellow to red. I wanted the vehicle to do the same with equal parts color and so this entailed a vehicle that was more or less the same size from top to bottom. This meant using one of the many “ toaster van” options so I went with a 60’s era Ford Econoline, mostly for its teardrop headlights. Massive drag tires and wheelie bars clues us in that this Singapore Sling is one fast beast. Eric says he has drank enough of these to sink a carrier and in the case of the Titanic that was about two. Remember, always drink responsibly and never drink and drive. Thanks for the suggestion and stay tuned as I draw more of your mixed drink suggestions."
