Renault 17 TS

The Renault 17 and closely related Renault 15 were launched in 1971 and adopted the platform and mechanical systems from the Renault 12 of a couple of years earlier. This layout mounted the four-cylinder engine longitudinally ahead of the driven front axle.

Renault 17 can be identified specifically by the adoption of four round headlamps (in place of the dual rectangular items from the Renault 15), along with a quirky reverse-rake C-Pillar design.

Being the 1970s, the two models were available in a range of vivid period colours, including the green shown.

The Renault 17 was replaced in 1979 by the Renault Fuego which also used Renault 12-based underpinnings, that had been updated for the Renault 18 models – both of which adopted a more aerodynamic form.
