Moving to the Ford D3 platform, shared with the Taurus and Flex, the new Explorer is much more spacious and comfortable, benefitting from all the latest passenger sedan technology and comforts.
New powertrains reflect a change to a much for efficient vehicle. Standard engine is a 3.5 L V6, optionally a 2.0 L turbo charged, direct injection 4-cylinder Ecoboost engine. Coupled to a standard 6-speed automatic transmission, the new Explorer represents fuel efficiency gains in excess of 25%.
