Land Rover Discovery 4
The Land Rover Discovery 4 of 2009 was a modest update of the Discovery 3 launched in 2004.
The vehicle deployed the same combined unit / frame construction as the 2004 version.
A range of engines were available:
2.7 & 3.0 litre V6 Ford diesels
4.0 V6 petrol and 5.0 litre V8 petrol
The Discovery 4 continued the Land Rover reputation for offroad capabilities. The platform was also used on the Range Rover Sport model, though only equipped with 5 seats.
During the lifecycle of the Discovery, Land Rover, formerly part of Ford's Premier Automotive Group (PAG) was sold to the Indian Tata Group - though fortunately investment in the vehicle was continued.
The model was replaced by a new aluminium unibody vehicle devoloped in conjunction with Jaguar.
