Kilminorth Woods … The Giants Hedge.
The Giant's Hedge was once over nine miles long and probably dates from the Sixth Century. Some well-preserved sections are here in Kilminorth woods, and it appears to pre-date the woodland. What you can see is a stone faced earth bank between one and two metres high. Originally it was flanked by a ditch and toped by a hedge or fence. Now colonised by mature trees, wild flowers and many species of ferns and mosses, it is a valuable habitat for wildlife.
