My brave boy Jake, wants to know what all the fuss has been about. (#IMG_6564
Jake my brave boy, continues to show slow progress day by day. Slow but sure!!! His breathing rate has slowed to between 28-39. (A lot better than the 60 bpm a week ago)
He still has the occasional cough and the vet recommended giving him some Laxatone for fur-balls.
The vet heard the cough on the telephone Friday.
ALL the meds remain the same for now. We will repeat the chest xray on Tuesday (yesterdays still showed pulmonary edema/effusions) and if better hopefully discontinue the lasix and oral prednisone. (Just give the steroid puffer and emergency Ventolin. for lifetime) Maybe even stop the Theophyllin (bronchdilator)
We are still awaiting the blood results specifically renal function as the lasix is hard on already compromised kidneys. He had to send the blood to another lab, and won't have the results until Monday.
Jake is purring and I heard the 1st meow in a week on Friday! He is eating wet KD with Rebound electrolytes in it. Fortacor will continue for life.
It is hard to believe all this has happened in the space of 1 week.
This time last week he was in crisis, in "guarded condition." The vet and I even had a discussion about euthanasia, as we did NOT want Jakey suffering when he was gasping for air.
Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, love and support. His getting better was truly a miracle and I can not underestimate the power of prayer.

Jake's vet just called and is blood work is essentially normal. He is not too dehydrated from the lasix as his creatinine is ok!!!!
The vet is pleased for the first time in a week!!
I am so happy!
Now I can rest assured. 3 more night shifts. Off to sleep now.

Jake had a so so night. He has been coughing 3 times and his respiratory rate is back up to over 40. ;-(
I just gave him Ventolin and will continue to observe him closely.
He is picking at his wet kd and Fancy feast.
He will see the vet and have another chest xray Tuesday afternoon.
I worked last night, so will be mostly offline now to sleep, now..
