Bailey is having his dental extractions today.

I just dropped my dear Bailey Boy off at the Vets, for his 2 teeth extractions.

He clung to me and the Vet tech had to pry him away.

He then fought her....all 13.5 pounds of him.

Sad to see him go, but I know it's for the best for him.

They will call me when he wakes up and recovers from the anesthesia.

I hope to pick him up between 1830 and 1900 hrs tonight.

**********BAILEY UPDATE**********

Just got a call from the vet's office. "Everything went well."

Bailey is recovering in an incubator.

I will pick him up at +- 1830

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR KIND SUPPORT, COMMENTS, EMAILS....:-)

You all are such great Flickr friends!!!

******UPDATE @ 1900hrs.

We went to pick Bailey up, but just as we got there he began bleeding from one of the extraction sites. They were putting pressure on the site.

The Vet said she wanted to keep him overnight, to keep him quiet. (But there is NO ONE on duty after 2100hrs. so he could be alone and bleed!

I told her I could supervise him in my bedroom with the door shut. I got to see him for a minute. He was groggy, "stoned" looking, but seemed to recognize me.

Regardless we will know more by 2100 hrs.

Vet just called again. Bailey is still bleeding from 1 of 2 extraction sites. He has a dissolvable suture at each site, but it is sill bleeding.

We will wait until 2030 to decide if he comes home or not, tonight.

What a roller-coaster of a day!

****UPDATE @ 2110

Just got home and he has been purring non-stop on my bed.

Every once in awhile he will jump down...but I am trying to keep him quiet.

The Vet said a clot has formed at the site.. and NOT to dab at the mouth as this may dislodge the clot that has formed.

15 min of non stop purring and counting.

I am still a nervous wreck, but am so glad my Bailey Boy is home.

*****UPDATE @ 0830

Bailey had a good night. He purred almost non-stop and every time I touched him.

He used the litter box to pee during the night.

This morning he ate wet KD with some Metacam (for pain) in it.

He keeps shaking his head and swallowing saliva... NOT blood so I know he is in some discomfort.

He purred and wanted more food. We are giving him very small amounts frequently.

I could see no further signs of bleeding (on my pillow/with blanket or his face. I did not check inside his mouth for fear of dislodging a clot.

He slept next to me on my other pillow and rested well. I did NOT. :-)

I will be leaving in a couple of hours as my NERVE BLOCK is at 1300. (Lots of traffic and I want to be there for 1230)

I am very tired from last night and a bit nervous, to be honest.

Sorry I will try to catch up on your pics this weekend if all goes well.

I hope Sue's (yorksgalSue) spinal injection also goes well today.

Thank you all once again!!!

xo
