The thread that binds
Our Daily Challenge - Our Parents War

My Mom is a Powerhouse. Raised in the Apartheid era, she defied conformity.
She lived in Townships, she visited prisoners on Robben Island, she helped break the up the Group Areas Act in Durban by helping people of colour live in a "Whites Only" suburb, she was harassed by the security forces regularly.
She had courage and conviction.
She was an absent mother, but taught her children that being fair and openminded was an important part of basic humanity.
And as the political landscape in South Africa starts to simmer I see a glint in her eye in anticipation of change.
I once overheard her say to someone that called her a 'Bleeding Heart Liberal'
"I am not a f*@cking liberal, I am a Revolutionary"
This composite started with the idea of the threads that bind.
