Family Blessings
My family has been such a blessing to me. I was remembering my grandparents today and composed this photo in honor of them. My grandmother loved to cook and bake. In the background is her cookie jar. The cook books are hers complete with notes that she jotted down on the recipes. My grandfather was a strawberry farmer. He wore straw hats while he worked and they always smelled of citronella. He had an elephant collection and this bank was his. He also loved to read and gave me books that I loved. A Girl of the Limberlost is just one. Together they had an antique store. The figurine of the girl cooking was one that my grandma gave to me.
Lastly, I've included a pin that was given out at a family reunion when I was a child. It shows the changes made to the family name since our ancestors came to America from Holland.
I have been having fun at trying out still life photography. Very challenging. This one I especially enjoyed since it brought back fond memories of people that loved me and influenced me in so many ways.
“They are not dead who live in lives they leave behind; In those whom they have blessed, they live a life again, And shall live, through the years, Eternal life, and grow each day more beautiful As time declares their good, Forgets the rest, and prove” Hugh Robert Orr
