Amazing retro woven rattan chairs in one of the upper lobbies of the Rex Hotel. The furniture equivalent of ice "chinking" in a cocktail glass, these golden dreams punctuated the end of many of the hotel's ghostly corridors. The whole place had this intoxicating "spirited away" quality.
During the Vietnam war the hotel became the base for the American Information Service, synonymous with the “five o’clock follies” - foreign correspondent press briefings.
