Signed Czech Ethnic Necklace Art Deco Sapphire Blue Crystals
This stunning Art Deco signed Czech necklace dates from the 1920-1935 period. The luxurious molded and hand carved Sapphire blue glass borders on cobalt coloration. The blue glass strand features unusual octagonal beads that are faceted on both sides.
The magnificent pendant features a large faceted glass oval set in a hand made deep dog tooth bezel. The ornate filigree pendant is two pieces : an oval frame with repousse leaves and on top, a filigree medallion of scrolls and beads. Small bezel set sapphire chatons adorn the top and bottom as well.
The pendant is tested 835 silver over brass. The silver retains the old patina and has some very minor spots of wear. The necklace chain has faceted rounds with the octagonal glass beads and all are connected with brass chain. The necklace has the original brass spring clasp and jump ring and the spring clasp is signed Czechoslovakia.
The chain section is 18" long and the pendant is 2" long x 1 1/4" wide. The large oval sapphire glass stone is 1 1/8" long x 3/4" wide. The octagonal glass beads are 1/2" wide. This necklace is in exceptional condition. The large blue glass stone is perfect, and the pendant is dirt and damage free.
All of the glass beads on the chain are in excellent condition as well with the exception of a couple of the smaller beads, near the clasp, that have some minor flea bites, I think. The glass beads were hand cut and are not perfectly symmetrical and the flea bites I refer to could be imperfections when the beads were cut.
