Czechoslovakia Antique Earrings Aquamarine Glass
These elegant antique earrings date from the 1920s or 30s and both are signed Czechoslovakia. The unusual crown style settings are made of antiqued brass filigree leaves. The large center stone is hand cut, faceted Aquamarine glass.
This large glass stone is prong set and is about 3/8" wide. Above the large stone are 5 smaller chatons, all hand cut and prong set as well. The earrings are screw backs and the old brass is in excellent condition with no dirt, blackening or greening. The brass has a lovely old patina from age. The glass stones are in excellent condition as well. All of the stones are present, original, clear and scratch free.
The large stones once had gold foil backs and as it has worn off, light is now allowed to pass through, making the center stone even more brilliant. The earrings are rather petite and measure 3/4" tall x 7/8" wide. The brass screw back wires were hand made and are not uniform in shape, as is the case with almost all Czech earrings this old. The screw back mechanisms are in perfect working order.
