Whimsical Wonky Log Cabin Quilt

I don’t have a blog….dial-up and blogging don’t mix…but Amy told me that was ok and to just link my Flickr page for the Fest. So here it is, my Whimsical Wonky Log Cabin Quilt! Since I wrote this I started a blog!!:) deeroodesigns.blogspot.com/

Hope you come visit!:)

I can’t believe what a trip this has been….since discovering Dana’s Old Red Barn Co. Quilt-Along, learning from her, Park City Girl, Quilt Dad…and soon to teach a circle tut, the Hat Lady herself, Heidielliot, I have totally finished 8 quilts and have two other tops waiting to be sashed and sandwiched!! Wowser!! This is a Great Big Thank-you to my online teachers!!

I found an old cross stitch book at my mom’s and realized it was mine many years ago, so I stole it from her. I started stitching all these little flowers and houses just because they were fun and then Quilt Dad started this Wonky tutorial and my x-stitches found a home. Then came time to quilt….oh my….I still don’t know what I’m doing!

I am definitely better at straight line quilting with the walking foot but this quilt called for something more….when I looked at the quilt top I kept thinking of cartoons. One day I was watching Saturday morning kid stuff…yes, I still like cartoons….and there on a cartoon wall were some funny/wonky pictures with scribble frames….light bulb moment!! So that is what I tried to do with each square…only problem was I would be doing really good and then I would think about it too much and waa laa….mistakes galore….but you know…I think it works….after all, I was going for whimsical! *whistling and rolling eyes*

My Whimsical Wonky is going to my daughter Maria. She is totally not interested in sewing of any sort but she really loves the fact that I can sew and have been sewing her Halloween costumes and formals for the past 22 years! The other day she asked who was getting this quilt, I said I didn’t know…she asked if she could have it….You betcha sweetheart!!

Dolores (DeeRoo)

Oh…almost forgot something Amy had asked….Virginia is for Lovers!!

PS….I also wanted to give a shout out and big Thank You to everyone who has posted a quilt picture on the Old Red Barn Co. Flickr page and the Blogger’s Quilt Fest Flickr page….what incredible ideas and inspiration…I can’t wait to start on my next project!!

PSS...Ugh...it has been raining for the past 3 days (with 2 more days of rain to go...they are actually calling for a little snow!!!) so the lighting is really bad and you can hardly see the binding...kelly green, white and gold...awesomeness!!
