Covering more than 900 acres, the North Unit of Madison's Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park has 3.4 miles of trails along with a boardwalk and two observation decks. These images were taken August 28, 2018

 

Located at the head of the Yahara Lakes on Madison's North Side, Cherokee Marsh acts as a living sponge, filtering upland runoff, using excess fertilizer to grow marsh plants, and slowly releasing cleaner water to the lakes below. Cherokee Marsh is the largest wetlands in Dane County.
