Wheeling Lake Erie Railway. Carrollton, Ohio

Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway headed south to Carrollton, Ohio at 3:45 p.m. Feb 12, 2009 coming to grade crossing at state Route 171.

 

Unit was ordered by Pittsburgh & West Virginia and would have been P&WV 101, but was delivered to N&W following merger as N&W 1301. Sold by NS to Transdynamic Leasing as TDIX 1301 and leased to W&LE. Later bought by W&LE and rebuilt with microprocessor control system as WE 1301 in 1997. Sold to CIT Financial in 1999 and leased by the W&LE. Unit is low hood with EMD trucks and is painted black and orange with P&WV in large orange letters. Unit was renumbered to WE 101 in January 2001 and was painted in the black and orange commemorative P&WV scheme in October 2001. Equipped with Canac Controltac LT remote control system.
