K-44
A product of a joint effort between German arms manufacturers H&K and Russian manufacturers Izhmash, the K-44 utilizes the G36-style magazine and fires the 5.56mm NATO round combined with the rugged and reliable nature of the AK-series. This weapon was conceived and constructed under a pact to form a stronger universal military structure for nations in Europe and West Asia. Many EU members have begun adopting the K-44.
The K-44 uses Russian AK-style optic and rail mounts that attach to a rail on the left side of the receiver. Each K-44 comes delivered standard with one of these rails. The hand guard can also be drilled for rail mountings. Also, the hand guard has the ability for an M203 grenade launcher system to be attached. The launcher is simply slid down the hand guard from the front opening recess until it clicks into position at the end. Then to detach, a button on the left side of the hand guard is pushed.
This is obviously fictional, but an interesting concept in my opinion.
