This is an "old man palm" (Coccothrinax crinita) that died, last year or the year before. Its older fronds stayed green but its heart was completely dried out and stopped growing. A few weeks ago we noticed one of its "dead" palm spikes had opened and was showing off some actual green. Too bad the name "zombie palm" is already taken.
