Dartford Station
I had to go through to Dartford today, for "bloods" and while I awaited my return train I reflected, as is my wont, on Dartford's fame. For it was here, more than 60 years passed, that two teens, Michael Jagger and Keith Richards met - on Platform 2, not Platform 4, which this is. I love the Stones, up to about 1971, after which I like the occasional song, but not a lot. I also believe that, had I been the parent of a teenage girl in 1964 or thereabouts the one I'd have been most frightened of, going by their looks on stage, was Bill Wyman, who was magnificently, malevolently cool, in spite of having grown up in Penge (Penge ! I ask you...) and originally named Perks. Or perhaps these were his spur to greatness. He should tell us.
The station has a gold pillar box, a mystery to me. I will find out...
