River Thames: Tanner
Tanner is one of two new fireboats operated by the London Fire Brigade.
It's named after Auxiliary Fire Woman Gillian Tanner, for her heroism during World War 2. The other vessel, Errington, is named after Auxiliary Fire Man Harry Errington, GC, for the same reason. Both fire fighters were volunteers.
They may be the fastest vessels on the River Thames: their published 'stats' indicate they can move faster than the navy's fastest frigate, HMS Sutherland.
The two vessels entered service in 2023. Tanner proceeded to the end of Gravesend Reach (a couple of mile down river) then returned. I'm assuming this was a training exercise as the vessel "officially" operates only as far down river as Dartford (not actually 'on' the Thames and nine miles west of Gravesend...)
