River Thames: Blue Heritage

A New car carrier, Blue Heritage, on its way down the River Thames, having just left its berth at Tilbury Docks' roll on roll off terminal.

Blue Heritage was built in Singapore and launched earlier this year. It was built by CIMC Raffles, a good start. It may have been built using laser composite welding, which sounds good but I've no idea what it is. It's 200m by 38m.

It sails on 'dual fuel' which seems to mean it can use both conventional (diesel) and alternative, greener fuel like liquefied natural gas; it has LNG on its hull so I assume that is its fuel. I mentioned before how quiet these ships are and this one glided by almost silently.

Strangely, it sailed just as the tide on the river was turning; you can see the tide is low here, but there must have been enough water there, so why not ?

I've no idea where it got its name from: I suppose it meant something to someone.
