River Thames: GPS India

The tug, GPS India, sailing up the River Thames.

 

I can't find the exact date this was built, but either 1955 or 1958. Built in the Netherlands and had a refit in 2012. For what it's worth, I 'approve' heartily of keeping older vessels going: it's over 60 years now and still working as hard as tugs do.

GPS move a lot of stuff up and down the river: I've mentioned before they brought the 'spoil' from Crossrail (and, I think, the Thames Tideway project) down river to cover over landfill sites. GPS has a fleet of tugs and other vessels so a frequent sight here (and on the Medway, as they're based there, at Upnor...).

 

Previous names: Phoenix, Zeepaard and Zeepia...
