River Thames: Pillbox & Shornemead light.
A view of the River Thames from the south bank, just past Shornemead Fort.
Roughly 200m east of the fort, the first of two WW2 pillboxes. The second is roughly 60m further east.
It's just the base of the structure, it's described as follows at Kent County Council's Heritage Map: "Its superstructure is no longer extant and appears to have been a flat roof supported on steel girders". The map is at webapps.kent.gov.uk/KCC.ExploringKentsPast.Web.Sites.Publ... and shows all sorts of old historical sites, including shipwrecks...
In the Thames itself is Shornemead light, which replaced Shornemead Lighthouse earlier in 2004.
