I just wanted to try this so I would know how it was done. I should double check this, but I believe these were the steps I took:
1.Open “face” file, convert to B&W, and remove background
2.Adjust the contrast (i.e. adjust levels: dark up, mid up, low down)
3.Add a Gaussian blur - I used a setting of ~10
4.Save “face” file as PSD with new name – this will be the displacement map
5.Undo blur and level adjustment
6.Open texture file and then use the displace filter to open the map file – I used 25/25 for the settings
7.Copy the displayed image onto a new layer of the” face” file and experiment with blend modes
8.Past the texture as a new layer (bottom layer) of the “face file
9.Adjust the opacity of the displaced image (~80% - top layer)
