Project 365 Toys - Generation 2 Volt (Day 111 of 365)
This Transformers figure is Volt from the Generation 2 line, released in 1994. It is complete and in great condition, with only slight discoloration of the red sticker on top (his back in robot mode). This figure is from the "Laser Rod" subline, which consisted of Hotrod cars with light features. Volt's light-up feature can illuminate his engine in vehicle mode, or (with the help of an LED on the end of a wire) light up his sword in robot mode. It's a cool effect, but one that we don't see much of anymore.
The problem with the G2 Laser Rods is that their waist is built around a rubber band (old-school GI Joe style), so older ones are very hard to stand up because they flop over at the waist very easily. I usually keep mine in vehicle mode for this reason. At least they made excellent use of light piping for the eyes in robot mode!
