Ready to head to town. October, 2008.

The afternoon run-a-round yard job is ready to head to Grand Avenue yard with cars for train A432. The run-a-round yard was used to service ADM, Caterpillar, and A.E. Staley (now Tate and Lyle). It had served Firestone untill they shut down their Decatur facility. CN sold this yard to ADM in 2009. ADM contracted with Railserve to switch this yard and the resulting loss of CN jobs propelled me to find a Job with Amtrak in Indianapolis. As I had prior rights in Decatur yard only, had I stayed with CN, I would have been forced to Champaign. I had no prior rights there, so I would have lost about 15 or 20 spots in seniority and would have worked the extra board for the rest of my career.
