Stevenson MD ~ Fort Garrison
Last Sunday, there was an open house event at the historic Fort Garrison in Baltimore County. Construction of the then frontier garrison began in 1693 to protect settlers from Indian attack. In 1940 my grandparents bought the home, fort and 250 acres of farmland, where they lived for 20+ years. The fort was in lousy condition, but we were able to play in it as very young kids. After our grandfather died in 1960, the farm property was sold to a developer, and the fort became property of Baltimore County shortly after. They have done great restoration work and provide occasional historic interpretations. It was fun to go back in time - HWW!
