Bristol Britannia cockpit section on display at Aerospace Bristol

 

This section is from the second prototype GALRX which made a forced landing in the River Severn Estuary while on a test flight on the 4th of February 1954

Howard Hughes wanted the Britannia for his TWA fleet but initially it was plagued with issues around it's Proteous Turbo-prop engines. By the time those issues were solved and the fact that Bristol didn't have the production capacity required, that order evaporated
