Comings and goings

I'll leave my other Flickr chums Bryan, Ray and Dave to tell me what species this is but it was fascinating to watch it's antics in between the comings and goings at RNAS Yeovilton yesterday

 

Each time another of similar colour approached it launched itself for a few seconds of 'close encounters' before landing back on almost the exact same spot it took off from

 

I'm not sure whether it was coupling or defending it's territory as it all happened so quick!
