Gus 'n Gas

**** Replacing the original 'dark' image with a far better edit***

Grissom based US Air Force Reserve Command's Boeing

KC-135R Stratotanker 62-3518 from the 434th ARW at RAF Fairford back in September 2005

There to support a deployment of B-52 bombers, nearby RAF Brize Norton's runway was being replaced so for a change Fairford was quite active with these USAF visitors plus temporarily re-located RAF VC-10's, Tristars, Hercules and Globemaster's and a transient Royal New Zealand Air Force Boeing 757

Grissom AFB in Indiana takes it's name from Gus Grissom, one of the three unfortunate Apollo 1 Astronauts who tragically lost their lives in 1967 when a fire broke out on the launch pad at Cape Canaveral
