'Air Force One' - US Air Force Boeing VC-25A 82-8000 from the 89AW, Andrews AFB, Maryland departs London's Stansted Airport with US President Barack Obama aboard on his way to Germany after his recent visit to the UK.
No ordinary Boeing 747, she is one of two - the other being
92-9000. Apart from the on-board fit commensurate with a 'Presidential' aircraft, on the nose, should it be required, is an air-to-air refuelling receptacle and along the spine, numerous aerials so that the President can keep in touch with The White House staff and his travelling entourage, which is considerable!!
A contract is currently being let for both the VC-25's to be replaced.......with two more Boeing 747's.
