The Flying Field

With all her twenty-eight wheels about to retract, giant US Air Force Lockheed C-5B Galaxy 87-0033 from Dover AFB caught departing RAF Mildenhall back in the 1993

Dubbed 'The Flying Field' - back then, out went the old slick looking White/Grey paint schemes that had adorned the 'MAC' transports since the late 1960's, and as here the 'European One' three-tone 'Lizard' camouflage had taken over with all the USAF assets re-painted - including regulars to these shores such as the Galaxy and C-141 Starlifter fleet - all succumbing to this hideous application as well.

Thankfully, another policy change took place and overall Grey soon became the norm and another fleet repaint took place - lasting until the current day.
