BEST Products Headquarters, Richmond, VA
BEST Products was a chain of catalog retail showrooms in business from 1957 to 1997. The company is best known for its nine unique stores built in the 1970s and '80s and for its corporate headquarters north of Richmond.
The two eagles at the entrance to the headquarters were rescued from a demolished building in New York. There's a plaque at the base of one of them that reads:
"The limestone eagles were created by Rene Chambellan in 1940 for the top the the Airlines Terminal Building, Park Avenue and 42nd Street, New York. The architect of the building was John Peterkin.
"When the building was demolished in 1978 for the new headquarters of Philip Morris, Inc., the eagles were dismantled and transported to Richmond. They were reinstalled at the Best Products Co., Inc. corporate headquarters building in 1980."
