Remembering Lightning Boy
Sculpture, bronze, colored, 2017
Tzigiwhaeno Rivera : April 6, 2008 - May 13, 2016
Why walk when you can run? Why watch when you can dance?
Tzigiwhaeno, his Tewa name, meaning Lightning Boy, describes him well.
At age 4, he became dedicated to the art of Native American Traditional Hoop Dance. His talents and dedication took him around the world to learn and share in HI, AZ, CA, France, Switzerland, and Italy.
He suffered from catastrophic injuries in a car collision in 2015 and succumbed to those injuries 14 months later. He left the strength and inspiration he exhibited in his 8 years and reminds us of this as Tzigiwhaeno continues to dance across the skies and his warrior spirit lives on.
