Hanford Mills Electric Generator

Sunlight determined the hours the mill could work, so the Hanford brothers bought an electric engine and used it to power a generator which produced electricity. Electric lights allowed the mill to work into the evening. They could also sell the electricity to people up to a mile away. Of course, they shut down the generator at 9:00 PM. This wasn't a problem for most farmers, but it was understood that if you wanted to though a party and keep the lights on late a night, you had to invite the Hanfords.
