Ross Park, Carousel

Because of the deep shade in the carousel and the bright light outside, it was hard to get a decent shot of the horses. This was the best I could do. Notice that horses are are all running and charging and look upset.

Between 1919 and 1934, George F. Johnson donated six carousels to parks in the Greater Binghamton area. Because of his own poor childhood, Johnson insisted that the municipalities never charge money for the ride. This carousel stands in Ross Park at the entrance to the Binghamton Zoo. The rides are free, but they ask the children to each give them a piece of trash that someone had dropped in the park.
