Sugar Land City Hall, Stephen F. Austin
The Sugar Land City Hall is located in the Sugar Land Town Square, a new area that incorporates shops, offices space and apartments. In front of the building is a water feature, consisting of gently cascading pools and terminating in a sunken fountain, containing a statue of Stephen F. Austin by artist Bob Pack.
This is part of the area where Stephen F. Austin set up his original colony after he received a land grant from the forward thinking government of Mexico, so the statue has him in a heroic pose.
