It is not until the year 1042 when we first written reference to this village, in a donation from an individual to the Monastery of Santa María la Real de Aguilar. In 1351-1352 Matamorisca is listed on the outskirts of Aguilar and belongs to Don Tello.
Until the fall of old regime is the town constitutional municipality three census in 1842 counted on 13 homes and 68 neighbors.
In the late nineteenth century, may be the city changed its name to Cenera of Zalima, then had 156 households and 552 residents.

When the people of Cenera were flooded by the reservoir of Aguilar, changed the city and was renamed Corvio. However, the population adhere to the name of Aguilar de Campo.

Inheritance
Ermita de San Juan Bautista: This temple belongs to the group known as Romanesque north, was probably built in two medieval phases during the twelfth and thirteenth century, but has significant further reforms of the current configuration of two separate buildings of pilasters or by columns and pillars, both culminated with flat front and tower of the feet. Inside are several sets of late Gothic mural painting, attributed to the Master of San Felices. The building underwent a restoration in 2008 in the Romanesque Intervention Plan North.
