The church is a Romanesque church, like most churches of Charente. A tradition that would first church was contruite in the sixth century by Saints Cosmas and Damian. What is certain is that the small device (stones) recovered at the base of the nave when working from 1894 to 1897 suggests a church of the ninth century. It was given in 1094 by the local lord, Guillaume de la Roche-Chandry at the Benedictine Abbey of St. Martial de Limoges who founded a monastery (a Priory) or Moustier where does the name given to Mouthiers village that is around. It is likely that after the donation the church was recontruite, so that the present nave of the twelfth century. The bell tower of the XIII is pierced with Gothic windows. A funeral chapel in the fifteenth contruite south side has a beautiful arch, also Gothic. It is now the sacristy. The facade, almost completely rebuilt in the fifteenth retains a primitive door open hanger.

The apse semicircular vaulted in bottom of furnace has interesting capitals. One of them is the Christ in glory surrounded by the symbols of the four evangelists.
