Ignorance of Youth
Simply put, I was born at an unfortunate time to experience railroading. Old enough to be aware of what was out there, but young enough to not devote enough attention to it as it needed. Here is a small sampling of what I should have devoted more time too in my teenage years before it was all over: Soo Line units, DM&E/ICE, Erie Mining chip moves, EJE helpers on Steelton Hill, DMIR units, BN SD60M's and Oakways on coal trains, etc and the list goes on and on. Back then a 2 1/2 hour drive was a long way, whereas when I go shoot the St. Maries now its only a 6 hour trip... perspective. The DM&E/IC&E were cool roads and I sorely wished to have spent more time shooting them. On this day though, I was down with Douglas Hildebrant and Josh Dulak and we bagged two blue and gold triple sets. Imagining triples of these cruising along the Mississippi River is enough to make someone curse. With a SOO caboose as a prop, this merch train was absolutely screaming down the river.
