Ole’s Big Game Steakhouse, Paxton, NE, Friday, June 26, 2009
Rain begins to fall as we cross a one-lane bridge and enter Paxton’s main street, about two blocks of businesses dominated by Ole’s on one side and the Windy Gap Saloon on the other. We circle the block, failing to find parking, and end up creating our own space in a gravel lot just behind Ole’s main building.
The second dad removes the keys, rain batters the car. We stupidly make a run for it and get caught in a sixty-second downpour that drenches us as we cover the twenty meters between the lot and the front door.
